At 6.5, I was like nah. At 6, still no. 5.5 ... starting to get interested. 5? Paused Golden Girls and it's bet time. The Chants have played the much tougher schedule of the two and have the better QB (although GSU's Darren Grainger is a fine player) in Grayson McCall. Think that dude started college football when Kordell Stewart did. (Kids, Colorado actually was good at times pre-Deion.) It's a rough road/road short turnaround for GSU. Coastal had a glorified home scrimmage last Saturday vs. Duquesne but did play good teams UCLA and San Diego State before that.
Each team is averaging over 400+ total yards per game and allowing 385+ totals yards as well. Coastal Carolina will be able to find success through their passing game and so will the Panthers through the ground. However, it may take a few possessions for each team to get in a groove. The defenses should show up more than they have this season considering it's the conference opener.
I loved it when it was Georgia State +7, but I'm still OK taking it here. This is not Jamey Chadwell's Coastal Carolina. This is Tim Beck's Coastal Carolina and it is not nearly as potent or fun on offense. Back Darren Grainger and the Panthers.
I think we’re going to get a classic shootout between two senior QBs with Georgia State’s Darren Grainger against Coastal Carolina’s Grayson McCall. GSU comes in 3-0 and Grainger has been the focal point of their early success with his arm and legs. Two weeks ago it was his legs needed (142 yds) to secure the win against Connecticut and last week he did his damage through the air against Charlotte completing 27 of 33 passes for 466 yards and 3 TDs. CCU will get their points, but this is one I expect Grainger to push the pace and Coastal’s defense won’t resist too much. The last two meetings have been shootouts Over the total. Over is the top play here.
