Poole's move to 6th man wasn't really a demotion. He played no defense against starting guards and plays none now. But he's lighting up back-up defenders and still playing big minutes. His 3-point % is up since the move to the bench. He's over this in 6 of the last 8, and his only game under 16 pts was vs his former team (Golden State, where he was off). He's over 30 in 3 of the last 5 and was never stops chucking the ball up and by the time he enters the game the Wiz are usually already chasing points. Among all NBA regulars, over the last 7 games only Luka, Greak Freak, SGA and Jaylen Brown have a higher points/min than Poole (0.79).
I have to keep riding team total overs against the Wiz. Yeah, Washington isn't as leaky at home as on the road, but they have a lot of key guys banged up, they play selfish ball and chase points and don't play hard or smart on D. This total is a little high for Orlando in general - but Wiz have allowed 127+ 6 in row and 7 of 8. Each of last 6 opponents scored at least 9 pts above their season avg vs Wash (on average scored 16 above their season avg). Orlando averages 111/G scored 127, 130, 125 vs Wiz. I'm playing it 120+ in alt markets
Wagner is in a shooting funk, hence the hefty return here, but he's been great against the Wiz and this is a great bounce back spot. They are the perfect team to face to get back in a groove and I bet he fires away deep early after going 0-5 at Charlotte Tues (a quality defensive team) and 0-12 from 3 his last 4 games. Wagner is 2/4, 4/6 and 1/3 vs Wizards from 3, and he barely played 20 minutes in two of those games because his team was destroying Washington. Opponents shooting 39% from 3 vs Wiz last 5 games (25th). Great night to work on your shot from distance.
Franz Wagner has destroyed the Wizards in three outings this seasona nd after a rough night in Charlotte I like him to get back on track against Washington. Its what shooters do. Wagner has 28, 31, and 31 against the Wizards this season. The Jazz were down to barely 5 players Monday and the guards still kept scoring in bunches. Defensive concepts and effort is sorely lacking from the Wiz. He might get this in the first half, and the Magic should cruise to another 130-point outing against Washington.
The Magic continues to take care of business vs. lower-tier sides, winning and covering their last four, all vs. those sorts, part of a 7-1 SU surge that began just before the All-Star break. Jamahl Mosley is extra-pleased that his team is clamping down on defense, allowing just 99 ppg across the last eight, not getting drawn into the sort of hully-gully form of teams like Washington. The last six weeks of the season could be especially tough for the rudderless Wizards, who have already moved out HC Wes Unseld, Jr and have little to play for, and these days can't even count on the top pick in the draft with the lottery. The Wiz SU losing streak has also reached 15. Play Magic
Another day, another Tyus Jones fade. This number is simply inflated judging by the fact that Jones averages approximately 9.9 RA and has been held under this line in five of his last six games, and 50/61 or 81% of his appearances this season. Then we factor in that he's playing the Magic who are 4th in total defense and play at the 7th slowest pace, in addition to being 8 point favorites tonight (Blowout potential). Orlando surrenders both the fewest rebounds and the fewest assists per game, in addition to unsurprisingly the fewest RA to the PG position on a per game basis as well. This checks all the boxes.
Orlando handled the Hornets pretty easily Tues so this back-to-back doesn't worry me much. Washington just returned from another brutal West Coast trip, its team D continues to hit new lows and they have few productive players. Have given up 123+ in 7 of 8 and might give up 130+ here (have twice to ORL already). Magic are 21-13 ATS on road and Wiz are 9-19. Magic will smother them on the boards. ORL 12-4 ATS in last 16 games overall. Orlando will pull away late - Magic 8th in 4th quarter +/- and WSH 27th
These are the Wizards last 15 game totals: 242, 255, 265, 235, 219, 253, 240, 259, 216, 232, 262, 220, 252, 212, 234. That is 11 of 15 at 232+. Two of those unders were vs the Cavs, so the WIZ are way over this total in 11 of last 13 vs everyone but CLE. Orlando has scored at will in 3 games vs them (127, 139, 130) and Wiz playing at fastest pace in NBA right now and throwing up a ton of shots. Even with Magic in second game of back-to-back I have to play this. Wizards last 15 games average 240 points. The 3 Wiz/Magic games: 246, 259, 255
