Scottie Barnes grabbed 12 rebounds in his first meeting with Indiana, and I like him to collect at least eight Monday. He has cleared this prop total in five of his past six games as Toronto continues to trot out a smaller lineup.
RJ Barrett is off the injury report after essentially sitting out for rest purposes in what was the second game of a back-to-back set for the Raptors on Friday. Across the 12 games that he has played since the Raptors traded away Pascal Siakam, he has recorded at least 10 combined rebounds and assists 10 times. The last time he faced the Pacers, he posted nine rebounds and three assists. Give me the over.
The game total projects ample scoring and I'm embracing that premise. Barnes has averaged 24.5 PPG in two meetings with Pacers and that's despite shooting just 20% from 3-land. That's well below his season average and if that ticks up just a smidge tonight he's going to get close to this in points alone. He's also averaged 12 rebounds/G vs the Pacers and Indiana's rebounding metrics are trending way down of the last two 5-game segments. Barnes might flirt with a triple double again and will try to fill the boxscore even if the Pacers are in command of this game. But both previous games have been hotly contested and he dropped 29 on IND less than 2 weeks ago despite going 0/4 on 3s.
This has been a very favorable matchup for Barnes twice already this season, and I like him to be very active tonight having not played since Friday. He's pulled down 12 rebounds in each of the prior meetings with Indiana and came two assists shy of a triple double in one meeting. He has 10+ boards in 4 of his last 7 games and the Pacers are dead-last in rebounds/G (38) and 26th in adjusted rebound chances over the last 10 games. Barnes averages 8/G so this isn't a stretch even against an opponent that is better on the boards.
Rematch of the Pacers' 127-125 win north of the border just before the All-Star break, when Pascal Siakam led the way for Indy vs. his old team with 23 points. Siakam will get to see the Raps again tonight, with Indy now on a 3-game win streak after thumping Dallas on Sunday behind 33 points from Myles Turner. The Pacers have come out flying from the All-Star break, scoring 131 pg in the process, and don't expect the quick back-to-back at home to be much of an issue. The Raps have also won twice since the break but would not be surprised to see Toronto begin to downgrade after trading away key cogs like Siakam and OJ Anunoby in front of the deadline. Play Pacers
The Pacers defense stinks (26th rated) and TOR is 22nd. Pacers yet to tip off against Dallas as I write this Sunday afternoon. I expect that game to be a grind and I like Toronto to be able to score above its season average on the road Mon. The two prior games between these teams were shootouts that went well over this total - 132-131 and 127-125 (just 12 days ago). Pacers have lowest rebound % in NBA over last 5 games as I type this and are 3rd worst in defensive shooting % in that span. Entering Sun, 4 of last 7 IND home games went 255+. These two bring out the buckets when they meet. Neither team shot under 49% in either meeting.
