Joel Embiid out. Tyrese Maxey out. DeAnthony Melton out. Nic Batum out. Yes, Dejounte Murray and Clint Capela are also out for Atlanta, but Trae Young should be able to get this done.
As we noted earlier in the week with the Hawks, their high-scoring explosions this season have mostly come at home in State Farm Arena. On the road, not so much, especially across the past month, with the latest road "under" on Wednesday at Boston. Four of the last five, and six of the last nine, for the Hawks away from home have landed on the "under" side, and Joel Embiid-less Philly is off of back-to-back games scoring 102 and 104 points, respectively (and clear "unders" in both vs. the Mavs and Warriors). Play Hawks-Sixers "Under"
Onyeka Okongwu is going to get another start with Clint Capela (thigh) set to miss his third straight game. In the first game that Capela missed, Okongwu finished with 18 points and five rebounds. In the second, he had 19 points and 10 boards. He has made five total starts this season and posted at least 22 combined points and rebounds in four of them. The 76ers are thin up front with Joel Embiid (knee) out, so look for Okongwu to exploit that matchup and hit the over.
Onyeka Okongwu has taken over as the starting Center for the Atlanta Hawks after veteran Clint Capela suffered a left abductor strain. Fans of the Hawks or Okongwu have long been waiting for the talented 23 year old to be unleashed. Onyeka has made 33 starts in his career, including five this season, and has eclipsed this in 4/5 starts, while averaging 26.5 PRA and logging 34 minutes. If we take games where Onyeka has logged at least 30 minutes as a baseline, the over has come in 17 of 25 games. I have the former USC alum projected to play 34 minutes tonight and against a 76ers team without Joel Embiid patrolling the paint.
