I was typing this clearly as Mike Barner was inputting the same pick -- no doubt that Miller should benefit most from the trade of Terry Rozier, and the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 draft has been playing great in three straight games -- topping this number in points alone in two. May have to start doing more player props because I'm so tired of most NBA slates having nearly every game with a favorite of at least 6-7 points it seems (six of eight games tonight). Just so many bad teams this year.
Since returning from injury, Jalen Duren has recorded at least 26 combined points and rebounds in nine of 14 games. The Hornets are still without Mark Williams (back), while Nick Richards (ankle) is questionable. The Hornets have the worst defensive rating in the league and have given up the seventh-most rebounds per game. Even with Williams healthy in their first matchup this season, Duren had 14 points and 17 rebounds. Expect similar success in this rematch.
Brandon Miller comes into this matchup having averaged 24.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists over his last three games. The Hornets traded away Terry Rozier on Tuesday, getting back Kyle Lowry and a first-round pick from the Heat. Lowry is unlikely to play for the Hornets as they look to move him to a contender, which means that Miller should be in line for a much larger role. This is a great matchup for him against the Pistons, who have played at the sixth-fastest pace and have the second-worst defensive rating in the league.
