I am going to double dip on fading Embiid tonight and he may make me feel foolish afterwards, as I previously notated these numbers are simply massive and this matchup could not get any more difficult for him. It is not an accident that Minnesota surrenders the fewest PRA to opposing Centers and while Embiid is capable of going off in any game environment, I am confident that the Wolves will make things difficult on him as they possess the personnel, size, length, and scheme to slow him down.
Joel Embiid is having a historic month of December. The reigning MVP is averaging 40/13/5 on shooting splits of 60/39/92. Truly incredible production and Embiid has managed to elevate his game despite winning the MVP last season. As painful as it is, I will fade him at this hefty line against one of the best defenders in NBA history in Rudy Gobert. The Timberwolves are surrendering the second fewest points to opposing Centers this season and fading Embiid is never pleasant in any capacity, this is about as difficult as a matchup that exists for Centers in the NBA. Gobert and the Wolves are playing excellent defense and will be motivated to slow down the All-World big man.
