New Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic says he's building the team around third-year star Scottie Barnes, the former Rookie of the Year and fourth overall pick who averaged 15.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season. With Fred VanVleet gone via free agency, replaced only by Dennis Schroder, Barnes is expected to take on more of a scoring and playmaking load. Rajakovic specifically said he wants Barnes to take more 3-pointers so he can open up his entire game. Barnes tweaked his ankle in the final preseason game, but he's practicing in full and should get a full workload.
