Is this a game the Cards could finally win away (1-8 on road)? Sure with ace Sonny Gray on the mound, but I'm going to keep hammering the Mets at home until they give me a reason not to. Nolan Arenado is not in the St. Louis lineup. Maybe not the MVP-caliber guy he used to be but still a good player. Clay Holmes has been very solid in his transition to a starting pitcher for the Mets.

Sonny Gray is off to a great start to the season for the Cardinals, and continues to be one of the most underappreciated starters in MLB. Not so underappreciated that his strikeout total should be this high, however. He's only eclipsed it in one of his four starts, and that was against an Angels team that ranks 28th in strikeout rate.
The Mets' bandwagon is filling up as they're poised to complete a weekend sweep of the Cards at Citi Field. After the bullpen blew a save on Friday night, the relievers were sharp again on Saturday, spinning three shutout innings while not allowing a hit, and Edwin Diaz getting another save. For Sunday, flamethrower Clay Holmes is off of his best stint of the season when allowing the Twins just 1 run across 5 IP, and striking out 18 across 10 1/3 IP in his last two starts. Granted, Sonny Gray spun seven shutout innings for the Cards against the Astros last Monday, but while losing 4 of 5, the Redbirds have been blanked twice and scored just nine runs.
