If my White Sox were going to get one in Detroit this series, it was likely always going to be this one with solid veteran Martin Perez opposed by Tigers rookie Jackson Jobe in his 2025 home debut. But this has come so far down from its opening that we still have to play it. I won't want to do much first five against the Sox because I want to take advantage of their horrendous bullpen. The touted Jobe did see the Sox in his brief call up last year and threw three scoreless innings at Comerica Park. So he shouldn't be nervous.
Touted Jackson Jobe made his first MLB start last Monday for Detroit in Seattle and was presented a 6-0 lead before he threw a pitch. Working with a big lead might have led to a bit of sloppiness as he lasted only 4 innings and still looks for his first win. Here's a chance, because Detroit has been outclassing the overmatched Chisox this weekend, winning a combined 14-6 the past two days and now back to .500 after winning four of five. The Pale Hose have lost six of seven, the win in the game Martin Perez pitched on Monday vs. the Twins, but the Sox have allowed 28 runs in the four losses since, and the bullpen struggling. Play Tigers on RL.
The White Sox are who we thought they were. A terribly flawed baseball team. They have allowed 6 runs or more in 4 straight games and 28 runs total in that span. I love the way Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter are swinging the bat for Detroit and Tigers loaded pen is fully available after two blowout wins. We believe in Jackson Jobe and expect him to be better here than in his season debut. Martin Perez doesn't scare me at age 34 and the Tigers were 21-12 vs LHP in '24. We like the Tigers to win the AL Central and we like them to keep pounding the White Sox. They are superior to them in every facet of the game.
