We are very big on Jackson Jobe and we like this as a launching off point. He faces a lineup that already looks to lack the clutch gene - again - and is swing and miss heavy and homer dependent. Jobe has always kept the ball in the park and this park should play in his favor. Tigers have an elite bullpen and are invested in this kid long-term and will be careful here. AJ Hinch can mix and match and might be willing to take four clean innings from his rookie starter and call it a day. Jobe for Al ROY is a strong play for us. Kid has legit stuff and Tigers are solid developing arms. Seattle already has 44 Ks.

The Tigers were glad to get out of LA after getting swept by the Dodgers, especially after Detroit held leads in each game. Now it's time for the MLB starting debut of touted Jackson Jobe, who offered a brief sneak preview late last season when appearing in a few games, including twice in the postseason (though not too successfully) vs. Houston and Cleveland. He'll face Seattle batters that managed all of three runs in four games against A's starting pitchers before doing a bit (bit not much) more damage vs. the Athletics' bullpen while splitting the four-game opening weekend set. Seattle's Emerson Hancock went at least five a majority of the time last year as a rookie and faces a Tigers team that is still rather blah offensively. Obviously, Seattle we know is a pitcher's park. The M's used the bullpen plenty over the weekend in close games vs. the A's so I have to believe Hancock is going at least five barring the usual worries. This spring with some new pitches in the arsenal, Hancock struck out 14 hitters in 13.2 innings, and issued just three walks.
