Take the hot pitcher to get through 5. While Mendy is definitely an overrated manager who makes mistakes he won’t panic here.
The Dodgers have won the last five starts by Yoshinobu Yamamoto but between his three previous starts, he allowed 11 runs while pitching only 11 innings. This is a pivotal game 4 for the Mets. They have to win and they have Jose Quintana at his best. The Mets have won six of his last seven starts. He hasn't allowed a run in four of his last five starts. He's a shutdown pitcher in prime form against perhaps the best-hitting team in baseball. The Dodgers have won by shutouts in four of their last five games. Dominating playoff performance from their pitching. The Mets are going to have to be very good today to win and I think they can. Mets win.
Shocked how flat the Mets were in Game 3 but they looked the same in Game 1 and then rebounded with a terrific Game 2. Tend to think the same here as they can't afford to go down 3-1. Jose Quintana has been the team's best pitcher since late August with a 0.57 ERA in his past eight outings. LA's Yoshinobu Yamamoto, whom the Mets also pursued in free agency, was lousy in his first playoff start but great in his second. New York at least saw him in April and fared relatively well. One good thing about the Game 3 blowout is that NY's bullpen is in great shape tonight with pretty much everyone available (other than Tylor Megill) including perhaps starter David Peterson.
