Baltimore looks for their 100th win on the season. The Orioles have not been hitting lefties well at home in September, .197 with a .621 OPS. However, when Baltimore has faced Boston’s Chris Sale this season, Sale has allowed 18 earned runs in 12 innings. Dean Kremer has allowed three earned runs, or less, in eight of his last nine home starts.
Baltimore should not rest anyone as it has yet to clinch the AL East -- but has a magic number of 1 to do so (and the top seed in the AL playoffs). Chris Sale has been pretty good of late for the Sox, but collectively the Boston players likely are looking ahead to their tee times Monday. The Sox have lost 16 of 20. I wouldn't play this if it were a May game because Sale has been much better than Baltimore's Dean Kremer recently, but clearly the motivation is 100 percent lopsided and this is cheap. Probably a raucous atmosphere at Camden Yards ahead of the first division title in 9 years.
The Red Sox have lost 10 of 12 and I like their stumbles to continue even though they might have the starting pitching edge based on current form. Baltimore has won Dean Kremer's last nine home starts. The Orioles have found success this year versus Chris Sale, as he owns a 13.50 ERA over 12 innings versus Baltimore. Back the O's to wrap up the AL East before a raucous crowd.
