Philadelphia is resting a bunch of players like Trea Tuner, JT Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, and Nick Castellanos. The Pirates are hitting .285 with a .793 OPS against lefties on the road in September. Pittsburgh John Oviedo comes off six shutout innings in Wrigley and allowed a combined six earned runs in his last four road starts.
We played Pirates RL last night assuming the Phils would rest a bunch of guys and they are: Nick Castellanos, Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner are all not starting. Just out of principle then, we'll throw a half unit on the Under as the Phils who are in the lineup likely will be hitting through a Coors Light-induced fog. Actually, the Phils feel more like a Natty Light group. Winds are apparently blowing in slightly.
The Phillies celebrated in a big way after clinching a postseason berth in walkoff fashion. Even though they have the starting pitcher edge with Ranger Suarez facing Johan Oviedo, I like the Pirates at plus-money. They're 16-10 in their last 26 games and won't have to face any of Philadelphia's top relievers. Oviedo has allowed one run over his last two starts, covering 11 innings.
Just a sprinkle here, but the Phillies clinched a playoff berth on Tuesday night and are pretty well locked into the four seed. As such, they partied it up Tuesday night and didn't look like they were going to hold back much. They'll be holding plenty of the regulars out of the lineup Wednesday, so I'm expecting a Pirates win.
I might come back and play Pirates moneyline tomorrow once we see lineups -- the Phillies are now locked into the NL's No. 4 seed so wouldn't they rest some guys Wednesday night after a little partying tonight?
