The Cubs have lost nine straight and it's sure hard to see them beating NL Cy Young contender Joe Musgrove, who has a 1.50 ERA through 11 starts while striking out 72 batters in 72 innings. Opponents are hitting just .196 against Musgrove and over his past four starts, Musgrove has allowed one run over 27 innings (0.33 ERA), during which opponents are hitting .160 against him. But, then, a lot of baseball results aren't making much sense right now.
It’s a warm day at Wrigley Field with winds blowing to right-center at 15 miles per hour so Padres starter Joe Musgrove (7-0, 1.50 ERA) likely isn’t happy, but Cubs batters have to make contact to do damage. The Padres have won 10 of his 11 starts. San Diego is going for a four-game sweep, and the hitters surely don’t want to leave. The Padres have scored 35 runs in the first three games. The Cubs have lost nine straight. Over is the top play.
I thought the Padres would be resting multiple starters today which is why I didnt play this earlier, but their full lineup is in. Joe Musgrove has been absolutely dominant this season and the Padres bullpen is well rested behind him with all these blowouts. The Cubs have now lost 9 straight games and their bullpen has looked awful. Matt Swarmer was hit hard in his last outing and he has been allowing plenty of home runs. I like the Padres here.
During the CUbs' nine-game skid, they've posted an 8.29 ERA while serving up 21 homers. The Padres have outscored them 31-10 over the past two games. Now San Diego trots out ace Joe Musgrove, who has allowed one run over his last 27 innings. Look for San Diego to keep raking vs. Cubs rookie Matt Swarmer (6 HRs allowed last outing) and play the Padres -1.5 runs at -130.
