The North Carolina Tar Heels after starting the season 3-0 have stumbled with consecutive losses. James Madison scored 70 points against them, and last week the Tar Heels came up just short against Duke losing by a point. Yet, making the change to Jacolby Criswell was the right move. With a few starts now under his belt, the Tar Heels are prepared for today’s matchup against Pittsburgh. Take the Tar Heels to threaten the outright win as a home underdog, but at least cover the small number.
It's been a rough year for North Carolina football as they've lost their last two games after starting 3-0 and haven't covered a spread yet this season, 0-4-1. This will be the first time they'll be an underdog all year. Pittsburgh has won and covered all four of their games and they've done it with some great quarterback play from Eli Holstein. His performance looks like a replica every game, he throws for 300 yards and three touchdowns and he's only had two interceptions on the year. That's 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. A significant quarterback differential, third-stringer Jacoby Criswell has been rough. Pitt to win.
Pitt comes off a bye week that allowed its scoreboard operator a breather. The Panthers rang up 73 points in their last outing and average 46 ppg. UNC wishes it'd had a bye -- two, in fact. The Tar Heels followed a 70-50 hammering by James Madison with a one-point defeat to Duke in which they led 20-0. Pitt QB Eli Holstein must be licking his chops after watching tape of the JMU game. He has a dozen TD throws against only two interceptions. Plus, he welcomes back RB Rodney Hammond, last year's top rusher, from an extended suspension. Retirement must be beckoning esteemed UNC coach Mack Brown.
