It’s rare to see a team that played in last year’s BCS be on the cusp of falling below .500. TCU has been a completely different team since their starting quarterback Chandler Morris went down. They’ve dropped three of their last four games including a 41-3 loss to Kansas State. Take Texas Tech as the small favorite.
Comparative scores are often irrelevant. Here, maybe it means something, especially given the recency. TCU whipped BYU 44-11 a couple of games ago, then Tech dropped its latest to the Cougars 27-14. The Horned Frogs have injury issues at QB, with usual starter Chandler Morris out, but their issues pale alongside Tech's. The Red Raiders list nine layers as questionable or worse. Behren Morton is back at QB, though he began the year as a backup. TCU has swept the last four meetings and figure to keep it close.
TCU will once again be relying on its backup QB while Texas Tech gets Behren Morton back, but we don't know that he's 100% coming off a shoulder injury. Essentially, I'm asking both these offenses to prove it to me.
Texas Tech's chances of a bowl game continue to slip after losing their past two games while using a third string QB. They get back sophomore Behren Morton for this game, a 1.5-point upgrade. TCU also has some work to do however at 4-4 feel slightly more comfortable than the Red Raiders. TCU has won the past four games in the series giving Texas Tech a small revenge factor. I have the talent fairly equal, Texas Tech home field worth five points, a couple for revenge to get to Red Radiers by seven.
