Should a new FBS member be a near double-digit road favorite? I don't necessarily think so. JSU is very one-dimensional offensively so if FIU can stop the run somewhat, it can not just stay in the game but might win. CBS Sports Network game.
The Panthers have been mostly a disappointment this season but, following a three-game skid, they finally showed signs of life in an OT road win over Sam Houston last week. They are now clinging to longshot bowl hopes and should have the greater sense of urgency against a Jacksonville State club that could be in a letdown spot. The Gamecocks wrapped up bowl eligibility in their first year at the FBS level last week with their comeback victory over Western Kentucky.
It's mostly been a fun ride for Rich-Rod and J'ville State in the Gamecocks' move up to CUSA and the FBS level...certainly easier than it has been for Sam Houston. Laying substantial points on the road, however, is a new challenge for JSU, and while Mike MacIntyre's FIU never scores many style points, the Golden Panthers have a real shot at unlikely bowl eligibility if they can win this one. Local product frosh QB Keyone Jenkins has provided a recent spark, and off of his best game (26 of 38 thru the air) in the OT win over the Bearkats. Play FIU
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks go on the road to take on an FIU team that has lost 3 out of 4 with the one win against 0-7 Sam Houston. Zion Webb leads the Gamecocks and is a dual threat QB who spearheads a great running attack. FIU is a bad run defense and will wilt over 4 quarters of play.
