Had zero opinion on this one until learning that UTEP will be giving fourth-string QB Cade McConnell his first NCAA start because of injuries to the top three guys. All I know about McConnell is that he previously played at something called Cerritos College. Their macrame major is well-known. I auto-fade guys named Cade back to the McNown days in Chicago. Top WR Tyrin Smith will miss a third straight game. Not a strong opinion but I like to put something down immediately after news. I also read somewhere but have not confirmed that UTEP is 1-25 in its past 26 games in the Eastern Time Zone. I barely consider Miami part of the USA but it indeed is in the East.
Florida International has stumbled considerably over the past two weeks. They were blown out by Liberty and had a poor second half last week against New Mexico State. Now at .500 they will face a UTEP team that has had extra preparation following a bye week. We want Gavin Hardison to start but if he is unable to I still expect a close game. Take UTEp plus the points.
Each team is winless in conference USA. However, UTEP is struggling with injuries. Their two quarterbacks are questionable with an arm injury and the other with a concussion. The Miners are only averaging 8.5 points per game on the road. And while, FIU is vulnerable on defense, they may find success with the Miners concerns at quarterback.
If this game was played on Saturday raise your hand if you even looked at it. You probably don't want to watch it tonight as well.. Just bet it under and go watch a movie or something on CBS. Texas El Paso’s three QB's are all questionable tonight with arm, concussion, and concussion issues. This is a run first offense that milks the clock. The defenses are below average but so are the offenses. Both have a combined 8-4 record to the Under.
