NC State has largely had Sam Hartman's number throughout his career, forcing him into six interceptions across their meetings when Hartman was at Wake Forest. That was a different situation, though, as Hartman was basically a one-man gang at Wake with the entire team on his shoulders. At Notre Dame, he not only has more playmakers, there's a tremendous defense that will do its job, allowing hi to take fewer risks. This is more about the Irish defense limiting the Wolfpack than it is Hartman, though the two will obviously work in concert for the W.
Sam Hartman knows the NC State program well having played at Wake Forest, and he went 1-2 against them losing both his starts in Raleigh. Notre Dame has had two easy wins and covers so far this season in part because of Hartman. He makes quality passes and he’s the missing link the Irish have needed the last few seasons. Great offensive line, great defense, and great skill talent except for QB. Now they have Hartman, a true Heisman contender (18/1), and he’s just getting started. The spread should be double-digits. Notre Dame to cover.
Notre Dame has won 28 straight regular season games against ACC opponents, a streak that dates back to late in the 2017 season. The Fighting Irish can control this game with their offensive line, and a strong running game should open up the passing attack for Sam Hartman. NC State's offense did not impress in Week 1 outside of Brennan Armstrong as a playmaker, and this is a big step up in competition from UConn.
