I consider this basically a pick'em so now that it's 3 I'll take it as I don't think getting higher -- obviously I recommend buying to +3.5 -- but Death Valley just such a tough place to play at night. The Tigers are getting a few players back (including RB John Emery) and their loss to Florida State (which should have been a win) looks quite a bit better now. A lot of times I will go look at our 247Sports partner sites and see what they think (highly recommend) because obviously I can't be on top of every team. And of course each school's site picks said team to win for the most part, but all essentially agree on a close game.
Mississippi State comes in with two impressive wins and covers as double-digit favorites, with QB Will Rogers leading an aerial attack that averages 385 yards, while LSU enters with a talented but almost entirely new crew. After last week’s 65-17 win against Southern, I think the Tigers became much closer and comfortable, especially QB Jayden Daniels. It’s Daniels that will lead the way with LSU as a home underdog. The raucous crowd is going to love him. This spread is suggesting home-field advantage isn’t worth five points. It is. Take the Tigers to cover.
This is going to be an interesting game for a couple of reasons. Firstly, when you factor in how LSU finished their game vs Florida State, how they started the game vs Southern and the fact that they are getting their best RB in John Emery back for this game, this will be a totally different team than what we saw in the opener. Also, Mississippi State's offensive identity plays right into the strength of the LSU defense, which is their secondary. Look for the Tigers to get their revenge against the Bulldogs down in Death Valley.
