Ole Miss will try to keep its impressive rise in the polls alive against Auburn. In order to do so the Rebels will need to find other ways for a spark with their quarterback Matt Corral not at 100 percent. Expect Ole Miss’s bend-but-not-break defense to continue to make game-changing plays when needed. Grab Ole Miss.
The totals for Ole Miss games this season seem to be based more on perception than reality. The Rebels offense has not been nearly as good in SEC play this season as it was last year, and Auburn's defense is strong enough up front to pose plenty of problems. The Tigers will also be able to control the clock with Tank Bigsby against a Rebels defense that doesn't stop the run.
For the life of me I can’t figure out why people think that this is going to be a wild shootout on the Plains. Yes, Ole Miss has a great offense. But Lane Kiffin popped it in cruise control last week against LSU, and I expect him to do the same if he gets a big lead on Saturday. With that said, will he? Auburn will look to keep the Rebels offense on the sideline via running backs Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter, so points won’t be flying THAT much.
Ole Miss' bye week came way too early in the season: After Week 3. That's pretty clear now as after playing four straight physical SEC games, the Rebs are completely battered with a handful of starters out and Heisman candidate QB Matt Corral less than 100 percent with an ankle -- his running ability was almost nil last week against LSU. Auburn is healthy and well-rested off a bye and should be able to run all day against a poor Rebs run defense.
