Be wary of new coaches in their first game -- even though Gary Anderson is Utah State’s new/old coach, starting his second stint. A long-distance trip to play an underappreciated program is no easy debut. Aggies standout QB Jordan Love has a shaky supporting cast, with only one returning blocker and a fresh cast of receivers. The defense is more seasoned, except in the backfield. Anderson brought in new coordinators, so a breaking-in period is inevitable for the Ags.

This game features two excellent QBs in Julian Love (Utah State) and Jamie Newman (Wake). Newman is coming off of an excellent bowl game against Memphis, and provides a different element to the game with his ability to run the ball. Love is being talked about as a potential first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and having a big game against the Demon Deacons could go a long way in strengthening his case. What will strengthen the Aggies' case for winning this game, will be their defense. Their offense only returns two starters and will take some time getting used to.
