After a tumultuous week, during which Maryland went back and forth on the identity of its head coach, things have settled down -- a little. Before the turmoil, however, the Terrapins lost a half-dozen Big Ten away games in a row by an average margin of more than three TDs. They have covered in four of the last 15 roadies. An offense that barely accumulated 100 yards last Saturday is unlikely to become productive again so soon. Indiana has slumped, too, but a bye week allowed the Hoosiers to regroup and restore fitness to several injured players.
At first blush, this meager line seemed a bit off-kilter and, sure enough, my simulations confirmed my initial thought that Vegas was severely undervaluing the Hoosiers. My projections show them covering the spread 64 percent of the time by about 10 points. It's been a tough stretch for Indiana, which has lost four straight. But it's coming off a bye and playing a Terrapins squad that looked absolutely lifeless against the Spartans. Maryland accumulated 100 yards of offense at home vs. Michigan State on Saturday. There's no reason to suggest the Terps will look any better this Saturday.
