Colorado state has SIX quad one wins: They are very fired up playing power 5 teams who disrespect them. They feel under seeded and they are the more talented team. Take the Rams
The immediate reaction to fundamentals here is that Colorado State has a problem, because Tony Bennett’s noted Pack-Line defense is designed to halt dribble penetration, and that’s in the wheelhouse for the Rams offense that spins almost everything off of PG Isaiah Stevens (16.5 ppg) careening into the paint. Mountain West defenses mostly figured this out as the campaign progressed; CSU didn’t beat a MW contender on the road. The conundrum here is that we have even less faith in the Wahoos, who except for a brief midseason rally have been mostly unimpressive, in four of their last eight games not even reaching 50 points, and for the season connecting upon a very modest 43% from the floor. Play CSU-UVa "Under" (NCAA at Dayton)
This First Four matchup projects to be a fairly low scoring affair in large part due to Virginia's style of play. The Cavaliers are elite defensively, but streaky and very inconsistent on the offensive end. CSU has one of the best players in the country in point guard Isaiah Stevens, and they also play well on the defensive end. In the end, however, it's hard for me to see the Rams finishing with a team total under 65 points. I also have UVA finishing north of 60 points. The should put this game comfortably over 120.5.
