Understanding Public and Money
The Seattle Mariners picked up their first road win of the season in yesterday’s victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Today, Emerson Hancock will get his second start of the season after a disaster outing on March 31st, in which he gave up six runs on seven hits. Expect Hancock to settle in today at least the first time through the order, and for the Mariners to be ready with early use of the bullpen. Take the Mariners to get their first road win streak of the season.
It was originally thought the Mariners would start excellent young Bryan Woo (now Friday), but instead they have called back up Emerson Hancock, he of the career 5.40 ERA in 16 career big-league appearances and 81.00 ERA in two-thirds of an inning this year. He's opposed by probably Cincy's second-best starter in Brady Singer (3-0, 3.18). M's closer Andres Munoz may not be available. I expect this to flip to Reds as favorites at some point before first pitch. Think they win outright but I'll never turn down +1.5 (+1 probably would be fine too if wanted to bring this down some).
We know Seattle won last night, but we're still not understanding the prices in this series. Little respect for the Reds, a short-priced dog again, even vs. Mariners starter Emerson Hancock, who couldn't get out of the first inning back on March 31 vs. the Tigers, surrendering six runs before getting pulled an a demotion to AAA Tacoma. He's apparently been recalled to start on Thursday in Cincy in the rubber match of this series, but we're going to much prefer the Reds and Brady Singer (3.18 ERA), with Cincy winning each of his three starts to date.
