Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is in the Toronto lineup for the first time since Sunday due to minor injury. Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman loves day starts as the righty is 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA in four afternoon outings. Miami's Eury Perez every year it seems is quite good at home and a wreck away -- this year, 0-4 with a 7.03 ERA on the road. The Marlins are 8-15 away.
The Diamondbacks go for their second consecutive sweep over the Giants in the last 10 days. Everybody is hitting for the Diamondbacks at San Francisco, and the team has won nine of their last 10 games. They play an afternoon getaway game before heading to Seattle for Friday's game. Mike Soroka is favored today after the last 2 days of Arizona being underdogs to the Giants. Soroka has pitched great in his last four starts, allowing only four runs. Trevor McDonald got lit up in his last start by the White Sox, allowing seven runs in 3.2 innings. I like the Diamondbacks to keep winning.
DraftKings. Dustin May has allowed 60 hits in 54 innings this season, with opponents securing at least six base knocks in 7/10 of his starts. May’s .290 oBA and .259 xBA both sit towards at the bottom of the leaderboard, as do many of his batted ball statistics. He’s a great hits allowed over target as he doesn’t miss bats and does limit walks. May will also face seven lefties today, by far his worst split with a .323 average allowed. And it’s the Brewers, who collectively are hitting .269 over the last two weeks against righties, the second highest mark in baseball.
FanDuel. Gavin Williams has emerged as one of the preeminent strikeout artists in the game today. With 84 punchouts in 69.1 innings pitched, Williams’ 30% K% has him in the 93rd percentile. He’s cleared this line in 8/11 starts, with the three misses coming against right-handed hitting heavy teams. That won’t be the case today against the Nationals, who likely will send out six left-handed handed hitters to face Williams today. The Guardians’ ace sports a 32% K% against lefty hitters, due in part to his curveball and sweeper combo.
End of a trip for the Cardinals, who have been hammered in the first two of this series. The Brewers are so darn frustrating man. They can have Craig Counsell back. Looks to be a bullpen day for the Brew Crew and pretty much everyone is available with an off day Thursday. Cards starter Dustin May has a 5.23 road ERA and 6.75 during the day anywhere.
