Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Todd's Analysis:

I expected this series to have ebs and flows; I just didn't expect to see so many in Game 1. Montreal looked overwhelmed early in the game leaning into Sam Montembault to keep things tight. However by the time the 3rd period rolled around Montreal found their sea legs which makes them a live dog in my opinion tonight. No doubt the Habs need more production down their lineup but they can play loose and free in this spot. My number on the game doesn't show a tremendous amount of value but the dog is live at +145 or better tonight

Bruce's Analysis:

This still looks like it won't be an easy series for the Caps, who needed some Alex Ovechkin heroics in OT to escape Game One on Monday after the Canadiens dominated play in the third period to rally and level the score. The formula mostly worked for Martin St Louis. Sam Montembeault is keeping Washington at bay long enough before snipers Nick Suzuki and Cole Caulfield (who both scored on Monday) do damage to give Montreal a real chance. Remember, the Canadiens played better than the Caps the past two months, and Washington was on its heels too much in Game One to think they are going to roll thru this series. Play Canadiens on the Money Line.
