Not to sound too snarky, but let's see the Red Wings do that again, goalie Cam Talbot in particular, after blanking the Preds 3-0 on Friday. For Detroit, that followed getting boat-raced by the Penguins in their opener, when Talbot was only on in relief after Ville Huso was pulled after allowing four goals in 25 minutes. Now, however, it's dealing with the Rangers, stung by upstart Utah 6-5 in the home opener on Saturday. Igor Shesterkin rarely has an effort like that one; that's the same Shesterkin who blanked the Penguins on opening night. This looks a perfect spot to play the zig-zag, especially as the Rangers are having no trouble scoring goals (11 in two games). Play Rangers on Puck Line (-1)
The Wings might already have a goaltending problem as opening night starter Ville Husso has been waived. It probably means Alex Lyon on Monday, and he had a mediocre 3.05 GAA last year for the club. Lyon allowed four goals in a loss to the Rangers in his lone start against them. Rotation guys Jeff Petry and Christian Fischer will not play Monday for Detroit due to injury. I'm obviously fine pushing for this Original Six matchup. Better this price than Rangers at -190 on the ML.
