Both of these teams can flat out score, and both are susceptible on the defensive end. Vancouver gave up 10 goals (yes, you read that correctly) in its last outing, and Colorado may be the best offensive team in the league. On the Avs' side, you never know what you'll get from Alexandar Georgiev. Take the over here with confidence.
We'll see how the Canucks respond to that wild (no pun intended) 10-7 loss at Minnesota on Monday. It's worth noting, however, that top GK Thatcher Demko didn't play in the game, as Rick Tocchet resisted sending him back on the ice on his pre-determined rest day as the Wild kept scoring against Casey DeSmith (Minnesota scored its last two against an empty net). Demko, however, has an NHL-best 30-11-1 mark in his starts this season, and the Avs have not been offering a lot of value lately, losing five of their last seven. Play Canucks on Money Line
Vancouver leads the NHL with 212 goals after scoring seven at Minnesota on Monday. But the Canucks allowed 10 in that loss and now face a Colorado team that is third in the league with 209 tallies. At least seven goals have been scored in five of the Avalanche's last six games, and this contest shouldn't be any different as the teams combined for seven in their first meeting of the season.
We had a football score yesterday when the Canucks fell to Minnesota 10-7. A massive reason for those goals was their penalty issues. Vancouver is heading to the box at the second-highest frequency the past month, and that problem is made worse when you consider they kill penalties at the 10th-worst rate. Colorado should be able to find some PP goals, and considering they're averaging 4.3 goals/game at home over the past 45 days, expect 4+ from the Avs here. If you can't play the team total, just pivot to the over. Vancouver is averaging nearly four goals per game of their own on the road lately and should be able to generate offense against a Colorado team that just so often gets into high-scoring games.
