Interesting trend to note here: Stadium Series games have only over 6.5 goals five times in 13 tries. I expect that to continue on Saturday, with both teams in this matchup being fairly average on the offensive end. I like this game to end with a final goal total of 5 or 6.

The Stadium Series shows up tonight at MetLife Stadium, and time to invoke our normal and often-default recommendation on the outdoor games. Almost without fail, the NHL will struggle to keep a clear ice surface outdoors; it's much harder to do than inside an arena, and the ice condition inevitably becomes choppy, making passing difficult. The history of "unders" in the outdoor games is long; we last saw it in the Winter Classic on new Year's in Seattle when the Kraken beat VGK, 3-0. The Philadelphia Flyers recently played a game (Thursday) against the Maple Leafs, which saw a combined 103 hits. Tough. The Flyers will be playing back-to-back road games for the first time in over a month, while the New Jersey Devils will be starting Nico Daws in goal. Interestingly, Daws has a lower goals-against average than Vitek Vanecek. The Devils are in an excellent position to win based on these factors.
