Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Bruce's Analysis:

We need a new category for the Sharks, who are making the 1974-75 expansion Caps look like the champion Flyers of the same year. Speaking of the Flyers, they're at the Tank tonight and looking forward to facing a SJ side plumbing new depths of ineptitude, winless in 11 games, scorers of just 12 goals, and a staggering -43 goal differential with the season only three weeks old. Not to mention the first NHL team since the 1965 Bruins to allow 10 or more goals in back-to-back games! Only once have the Sharks been as close as one goal, and the Flyers have some firepower with Travis Konecny almost scoring a goal-per-game (he has nine already). Play Flyers on Puck Line

Matt's Analysis:

The Sharks will not go winless. The Sharks will not go winless. This sure feels like their best chance at a win -- after allowing 10 goals apiece in back-to-back games -- with the Flyers in a major funk themselves and No. 1 goaltender Carter Hart out injured. Top forward Sean Couturier also is in question after missing Saturday's loss.
