Vitek Vanecek gave up five goals to the Red Wings in his only game with NJ so far. The Isles are only 1-1 behind Ilya Sorokin, but he's allowed only one and two goals in those starts. So far, the Devils are 1-2, and the Islanders are 2-1. Last season, New York went 3-1 against New Jersey. Take the home team.

The Devils were 11-26-4 on the road last season so they really struggled, and they lost their only road game this season. The Islanders were better at home going 20-16-5 last season and they have won two of their three games this season. All were at home, and their loss was to the Panthers so that's understandable. The Isles have scored 7 and 5 goals their past two games, I like the Isles at home.

Thursday game. I was ready to pick the Islanders even at -200 at home vs. terrible San Jose on Tuesday but backed off when backup Semyon Varlamov got the start in net. So of course New York won regardless. Should be No. 1 Ilya Sorokin here, and we cashed on him plenty at home last year. He has a 1.52 GAA in two home starts thus far. Don't really care who is in net for the Devils, although probably Vitek Vanecek, who allowed five goals in his lone outing.
