It's not often that the "don't overreact to Week 1" play is to count on the Packers offense but here we are. Everything aligns for a Packers explosion of points and I'm rolling with it. Matt LaFleur followed all three Green Bay regular season losses last year with 30+ points in the next game...not to mention Detroit has allowed 30+ points in seven straight games.
I'm not on board with the notion that all is well in Green Bay. Obviously, we will see big improvements from their Week 1 performance, but the Packers will be happy to just win. This is the NFL, where any team can beat another on a given day. Detroit looked inspired by coach Dan Campbell and his staff in its season opener. Revenge is on the mind of the Lions, who were swept of the two-game series each of the last two seasons.
The Lions showed just how bad they are last week, only managing to rally back and cover the closing number once the 49ers took the foot off the gas. In this spot on the national stage, I don't imagine the Packers are going to do the same thing. Both Aaron Rodgers and the defensive unit are out to prove the team we saw in Week 1 isn't the real Packers squad, and one week shouldn't be enough to completely change our outlook on any team, barring an injury. Even knocking two points off Green Bay's power rating after Week 1 gives me a projected line of Packers -12, and since I can envision a Packers blowout more than a Lions win, that's where I'm looking.
