Expert Picks
The Nets are struggling with the playoffs on the horizon. They have lost four straight, including each of their last three home games. The Cavaliers are only 17-20 on the road this season, but they are 4-1 over their last five road games, which included a six-point win over the Nets in Brooklyn on Tuesday. I don’t feel good about the spread, but I do about the Cavaliers winning, so I’m ok with paying the juice that comes with the moneyline.
Jarrett Allen did not skip a beat in his return to action after missing nearly two weeks due to an eye contusion. He posted his 30th double double of the season after scoring 12 points and pulling down 14 rebounds (8 offensive boards!) against the Nets. He will rematch Brooklyn tonight and it's a terrific match up as the Nets surrender the second most rebounds and the seventh most points to opposing Centers. My colleague Mike Barner is on Allen's rebound prop which is a sharp look as well. Allen has piled up 11 double doubles in his last 18 appearances and I think he has a great shot to record another one tonight in what should be a competitive contest. I'd play this to (-125).
After missing four straight games with an eye injury, Allen made his return against these same Nets on Tuesday. He didn’t skip a beat, posting 12 points and 14 rebounds over 35 minutes. This is a great spot for him to have another productive evening on the glass. The Nets have been giving up rebounds in bunches to opposing centers. Prior to the 14 rebounds that they gave up to Allen, their last three games saw them give up 17 rebounds to Nikola Jokic, 21 rebounds to Domantas Sabonis and seven rebounds over just 18 minutes to rookie center Jaylin Williams.
