Yes, the Lakers were 0-6 in the preseason but in the 73 total minutes that LeBron James played LA outscored teams by 17 points. The Lakers are incredibly deep with all the offseason additions led by Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. The Warriors aren't so deep with Klay Thompson and James Wiseman both not yet ready off injuries. I don't know how the Dubs are going to get any rebounds against that massive LA frontcourt. Don't like the spread, though, as the SportsLine Projection Model has LA winning by a point, so will take the moneyline. The Warriors were 14-22 on the road last year. Update: Steve Kerr said that both Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins will be on a minutes restriction so that's even better for this pick.
The Lakers and Warriors will meet tonight to begin a new NBA season. Los Angeles has plenty of familiar new names as they brought in Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo, among others. Yet, with LeBron James, the Lakers have lost the first game to start every season. Take the Warriors, who went undefeated in the preseason, which included two wins over the Lakers.
LeBron James loves beating the Warriors, probably because he lost three out of four NBA Finals to them. In the last two seasons, the Lakers are 5-1 against Golden State with an average margin of victory of 19.3 points. Anthony Davis is a mismatch the Warriors can't handle down low. Russell Westbrook's addition makes the Lakers even scarier, and I believe this is the start of their championship run. Lay the points.
