The Cincinnati Reds ended their two runs or less four game drought in a big way Saturday with eleven runs. In the win their opponent in the Brewers also got their quiet bats going with seven runs. This could be another hit parade where I would give the edge to the home team in the Brewers. Carson Spiers was hit hard in all three appearances against the Brewers last season, including four combined home runs allowed in two August appearances. Take the Brewers on the moneyline.
The Reds are looking a bit bipolar, sandwiching 14 and 11-run outbursts around a four-game stretch in which they scored all of two runs, and the 11 came yesterday as the bats awakened at Milwaukee to fuel a slump-breaking win. As long as Cincy scores a few, it seems a worthwhile risk on Sunday, especially as Carson Spiers gets another crack on the mound after tossing six near-flowless innings vs. the Rangers last Tuesday, allowing just three hits and one run, though he took the loss in one of the games Cincy didn't score the past week. We've seen very little of Brewers rookie Chad Patrick on the mound, with mixed reviews thus far and a 1.59 WHIP in limited work. Play Reds on ML.
