FanDuel. Gavin Williams is someone I’m really high on coming into this season. Last year he dealt with an elbow injury, and didn’t look super comfortable when he did pitch. This Spring, he looked fantastic (26 strikeouts in 17.1 clean innings). In his first start, he had a tough strikeout matchup (the Royals), but did flash a velocity spike on all of his pitches compared to last season. The Angels profile as a below average lineup, both from a production and strikeout perspective and this is a very achievable total for Williams as is (he finished the season 6 for the last 12 on this line).
Cleveland got out of San Diego as fast as it could and up to Anaheim after getting swept three by the Padres and scoring only four runs in the process. The offense has been left mostly standing at the gate, with a team OBP of only .295 making things more difficult. Meanwhile, the Halos have started much like they did last year when finishing a successful opening road swing (4-2), with a pair of extra-inning wins highlighting the St Louis series. Though the offense has been inconsistent, and Mike Trout (.143 BA) yet to shift gears. Jose Soriano looked superb firing seven shutout innings past the Chisox on Saturday. A semi-pitching duel between Soriano and capable Gavin Williams wouldn't surprise. Play Guardians-Angels Under.
