Truly thrilled for my peeps back in Michigan with this Tigers run and personally I do hope they win today. Just hard to see the Astros being swept at home even if they have dropped six straight playoff games in the Juice Box. Today's starter Hunter Brown is from Detroit and dominated the Tigers in two outings this season. Brown had eight starts this season overall in which he didn’t allow an earned run. It's more of a bullpen day for the Tigers -- and that bullpen nearly gave yesterday's game away. This may well push. Frankly, my favorite play might be NRFI because Detroit opener Tyler Holton has been stellar in that role.
The Astros aren't used to getting knocked out of the playoffs early, not after seven straight trips to the ALCS (or further). But it's backs to the wall today, and Houston has the man it likely wants with the ball in Hunter Brown, who shut down the Tigers offense in two meetings this season, allowing just 1 ER across 12 IP (0.75 ERA), though the last start vs. Detroit was in June. AJ Hinch can't send Tarik Skubal to the mound for the Tigers every day; indeed, Hinch went the opener route with lots of success down the stretch, sometimes with Game 2 starter Tyler Holton, who spent much of this season working out of the bullpen.
