Make that seven of eight for the Braves after rolling 8-1 n the Bronx last night. Conversely, make that six losses in eight for the suddenly-floundering Yankees, who turn to Marcus Stroman to stop the bleeding tonight, That might not work, however, if he is worked over by the hot Atlanta lineup the way he was in his last start at Boston on Sunday. Meanwhile, Charlie Morton working thru six innings lately on the mound in for the Braves while posting a solid 2.86 ERA in three June starts. Play Braves on Money Line
Do you view Marcus Stroman as a stopper? Yeah me neither and him giving the Yanks the length they desperate need with their pen on fumes and a pipeline of wannabes from Scranton showing up every hours to try to get an out or two. Braves bats alive lately, and Yankees due for a breakout against a middling starter. Ball has been jumping in the Bronx lately. Braves can run all over Yankees catchers. I see a slow pitch softball score here
The NYY have a crap lineup after the top 4 spots and everyone knows it. Including Juan Soto. They need the top to produce, it's another sweltering day/night in the Bronx and the ball will be flying out. Soto has 3 HR in 11 career ABs vs Charlie Morton, who has been better getting GBs late in his career but yielded 28 HRs as recently as 2022. Morton has allowed 7 HR in 7 career G at Yankee Stadium. Balls have been flying all over that short porch in RF lately. He will try to put on a show here vs a pitcher he owns
I try to spot where I can a team that might have a sense of urgency. Most MLB regular-season games obviously are just blah because the season is so long. But the Yankees have not lost four in a row all season (on a three-game skid) and they have been flat-out punked in back-to-back home games. I'm obviously not going to use must-win game in June, but this sure feels like a bit of an important spot for NYY. Fair amount of Yankees also have good career splits off 76-year-old Braves starter Charlie Morton. Juan Soto absolutely kills him so I may play something there.
