Half unit because the Jays are a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma stuffed inside a pot pie (I may have added the delicious last part). They really had the better matchup in Game 1, and Kevin Gausman pitched well except against Royce Lewis. Once again, that Toronto lineup went silent when it matters. It's truly maddening to see Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ground out helplessly with runners on all the time. He may well homer three times today, but the Twins got that monkey off their backs and start ace Sonny Gray. Toronto's Jose Berrios, a former Twin, was not sharp in his final two. I'm surprised the Jays didn't opt for Chris Bassitt.
Minnesota's Sonny Gray enters in fine form, having allowed seven earned runs total in his last seven starts (1.54 ERA with 36 strikeouts and five walks). He gives the Twins the starting pitcher edge over Toronto's Jose Berrios. Berrios is much more vulnerable to left-handed bats, allowing a .774 OPS compared to .616 to right-handed batters. Look for the Twins to put five left-handed bats in the lineup as they exorcise playoff demons and complete the two-game sweep.
