Shop this line as +115 is available at multiple books. I have the Red Sox winning 51 percent of simulations with Pivetta vs. Kirby, meaning this line should be -104. Pivetta has been great, and now he gets a huge positive park shift individually as he visits the best pitching environment in MLB. The fastball, curveball, and slider combination should have a lot of success in this matchup. George Kirby has been hit hard in two of his last three outings against significantly worse competition. I like the Red Sox, who are a top 10 offense vs. right-handed pitching, to win this one.
The Red Sox were 8-4 after the All-Star break and just a half game back in the wild card race prior to dropping two consecutive one run games to the Giants. Boston's heading north on I-5 as they travel to Seattle to begin a three game set with the Mariners. I am a bit surprised the Mariners are favored here. Nick Pivetta will be on the mound for the Sox and he has been lights out with a sub 2.00 ERA since June 1st and he hasn't allowed an ER in 12 consecutive innings. George Kirby will start for Seattle and Kirby has gotten lit up in two of his last three outings coming against the Twins and the Tigers. I'll take Boston.
