I think this number is a bit lower than it should be just because of this pitching matchup between Shohei Ohtani and Nathan Eovaldi. However, with the first three games of this series going over, six consecutive Rangers games and Angels games have had eight or more total runs. Also, all six of the games between these two teams so far have gone over eight. Ohtani has been worse on the road, where he has a 4.22 ERA, and Eovaldi has been worse at home, with a 3.38. Just due to the trend of high-scoring games between these two teams, I've got to play the over at eight.
I am playing this at 8.5 -- not waiting for Caesars to match what FanDuel, BetMGM and few others have active. It's Shohei Ohtani vs. Nate Eovaldi so this could still be snake eyes in the 7th. Was pondering backing Texas on the ML but don't love that lineup today without AL ROY contender Josh Jung, Mitch Garver and Ezequiel Duran. That's a lot of firepower missing against Ohtani, who leads MLB in opponent BA (.172) and ranks third in strikeouts (102). Eovaldi has a 1.65 ERA over his past 10 starts. LAA is without Brandon Drury, Zach Neto and Hunter Renfroe. Lot of offense there. Totals aren't generally my thing but will watch this in between new episodes of Black Mirror.
Nathan Eovaldi got lit up in his last start, but it was only four runs. But that’s the bar Eovaldi has set for himself this season in Texas. He gave up four runs combined in his previous seven starts with five of those games allowing zero runs. He beat the Angels 10-1 on May 6 not allowing a run over eight innings. Shohei Ohtani is starting for the Angels but I’m on the Rangers to win on the run line.
