San Diego's Blake Snell has struggled to begin the season. Snell has had some control issues, allowing fives walks and giving up seven earned runs in eight innings pitched. The Mets have been hitting lefties better than righties thus far this season. As a team, they're hitting .246 with a .734 OPS against lefties while hitting .186 with a .603 OPS against righties. New York's Tylor Megill's two starts came against the Marlins but only allowed two earned runs with 10 strikeouts in 11 innings. The Mets have a slight edge in the bullpen and could get to Snell early. I'm on the Mets.
What's up with 2018 AL Cy Young winner Blake Snell? Maybe he just doesn't like March-May as he struggled to open last season as well and is an ugly 0-1 with a 7.88 ERA in two starts this year with a ghastly 2.13 WHIP. The Mets saw him in the wild card round at Citi Field last October and that was the lone game they won, tagging him for two runs and four hits and six walks in 3.1 innings. Walks are Snell's bugaboo. New York is 17-8 in its last 25 home games vs. a left-handed starter.
