The Phillies have won seven straight and I like their chances to stay hot versus Arizona and Zac Gallen, who has cooled off after a hot start. Once Gallen leaves, the Diamondbacks trot out a bullpen with a 4.69 ERA (fourth-worst). Kyle Gibson (1.50 ERA in four career starts against Arizona) and the Phils should benefit from a raucous home crowd. This price keeps rising and I wouldn't go any higher than -145.
I ended one winning streak on Thursday by picking the Red Sox, so let's continue and try to ruin the Phillies' seven-game run -- all under interim manager Rob Thomson, who is now the heavy betting favorite at some books to get the full-time job. During the winning streak, the Phils have outscored opponents 53-19. Arizona totally hosed me yesterday by rallying from down 3-1 in the ninth to win in Cincinnati but did use arguably its best reliever for a second day in a row in Ian Kennedy, so he probably can't pitch tonight. Zac Gallen (4-1, 2.40 ) has been pretty good for the Snakes but regression seems to have set in a bit and this price still seems a shade light in Philly. Kyle Gibson is 3-1 with a 3.48 ERA at home for the Liberty Bells.
I usually dont make plays the day before but I saw this line and I feel like it will rise. The Diamondbacks won on Thursday but it was aided by the brutal Reds bullpen. The Phillies bullpen has sneakily been one of the best bullpens in the league in the past month. The Phillies have now won seven straight games since firing Joe Girardi while the Diamondbacks were overperforming to start the season. Zac Gallen has been very good but he has showed signs of slowing down in his past couple starts with multiple walks and increased hits. I like the Phillies to win eight straight.
