I'm a bit surprised the Padres are underdogs here. Pitcher Ryan Weathers (3-2, 2.47) had been quite good overall but was sent down because the Friars no longer had room in the rotation for him. They do now and he's back. Cincinnati goes with Luis Castillo. He's an ugly 3-10 with a 5.14 ERA but has been much better of late. Castillo allowed three runs over six in San Diego on June 20. I still think San Diego should be a slight favorite with a superior lineup, having won 11 of 12 and being 6-0 this year vs. Cincinnati. I'll happily take the Padres on the runline.
Ryan Weathers is making his first start for the Padres since being sent down to get his pitch count up, and he has been good with a 2.47 ERA on the season. Luis Castillo has actually been much better as of late, but he is still allowing a lot of walks. He pitched six innings allowing three runs in San Diego two starts ago and picked up the loss. The Reds went up 4-0 in the first inning of yesterday’s game but managed to blow the lead by the fifth inning. The Reds have the sixth worst wOBA in the league against lefties and for whatever reason they just can’t seem to figure out the Padres yet this season losing all six games. Take the Padres with plus money.
