Patriots vs. Jets betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for Week 3 Thursday Night Football

Before you lock in your plays for Thursday's New England at New York Jets NFL game, check out our full betting preview.

The AFC East takes the Thursday Night spotlight again in Week 3 as the New England Patriots (1-1) visit the New York Jets (1-1) in what should be Aaron Rodgers' first full home game as a Jet, considering he lasted only four plays in his lone 2023 game at MetLife Stadium and didn't play this preseason. Gang Green is looking for its first home win in the series since December 2015 and is -6.5 with a total of 38.5 points. Weather could be a slight factor later in the game.

At age 40, Rodgers is two years older than first-year Patriots coach Jerod Mayo, and Rodgers looks to lead the Jets to multiple wins in September for the first time since 2015, the longest active drought in the NFL. Rodgers is 2-1 in three career starts vs. New England, all coming with Green Bay. Since 2000, just one Jets quarterback has a winning record against the Patriots -- Trevor Siemian, with a 1-0 mark after winning in Week 18 to close last season. That was Bill Belichick's final game as Pats coach.

New England's Jacoby Brissett is averaging only 135.0 passing yards per game this year, 29th in the league, as he continues to keep the seat warm for rookie No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye. Brissett has been under siege behind a bad offensive line -- he has the second-highest pressure rate in the NFL at 44.3% -- which is the biggest reason why Maye is sitting and watching. There's no reason to get the future of the franchise injured early. The Pats' receiving group leaves a lot to be desired as well.

During New England's eight-game winning streak at the Jets, it has won by an average score of 24.8-13.4. Brissett (19-31 in his career as a starter) lost his lone career start against the Jets in 2022 while playing with Cleveland.
