Packers vs. Lions betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for Week 14 Thursday Night Football
It's a second straight Thursday game for both the Packers (9-3) and Lions (11-1) as the division rivals kick off Week 14 on Thursday Night Football, and the only shot Green Bay has at winning the NFC North title is to claim a road upset to avoid the season sweep. However, NFC-best Detroit has tied the longest winning streak in franchise history at 10 in a row and is a 3.5-point favorite with a big total of 51.5 inside Ford Field.
Pert the SportsLine Projection Model, both teams are essentially "locks" to make the postseason. If Detroit wins or ties here, it would become the first team in the NFC to clinch a playoff spot, and it's considered such a sure thing the Lions will be playing extra football that there aren't any Yes/No odds at the various sportsbooks. They are -450 to repeat as North champions.Â
The SportsLine Projection Model currently gives Detroit a 78% shot (equates to -355) to win the division, but that goes up to 86.4% with a win (-635) and drops to 52.3% with a loss (-110). I personally don't see any team in the NFC winning at Ford Field if the Lions get the NFC's top seed, and they are -160 to do so. Minnesota is second in the division at 10-2 and is +400 to win it -- the Vikings visit Detroit in Week 18 but are currently down the head-to-head tiebreaker.Â
Green Bay is +1400 to win the North and has a 6.3% chance (+1487) to do so, per the model. That improves to 14.7% (+580) with a win but basically zero with a loss. The North is absolutely loaded this year and is the first division to have at least three teams with at least nine wins entering Week 14 since the 1985 AFC East, when the Miami Dolphins won it at 12-4, a game ahead of the New England Patriots and New York Jets.Â
