Encino scratched from 2024 Kentucky Derby: What to know about Brad Cox-trained horse now out of Derby field
This Brad Cox trainee, who was fashionably late in joining the Kentucky Derby party by winning the final Derby prep to earn his way into the starting gate, was scratched on Tuesday. A Churchill Downs spokesperson said the decision was made after the horse appeared off following his morning training session but did not provide further details. Encino was expected to enter the starting gate as a popular wiseguy choice to enter the winner's circle on Saturday night.
