Bettors have many different options to choose from on Wednesday, April 23, with MLB games, the NBA Playoffs and NHL Playoffs all on the schedule. In the NBA, the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will all try to go up 2-0 in their first-round playoff series. The NHL has three games on the slate, highlighted by the Los Angeles Kings trying to make it two in a row over the Edmonton Oilers after their thrilling Game 1 win.
Among today's best sportsbook promos is an offer from BetMGM. BetMGM offers new users up to $1,500 in bonus bets if your first bet loses when using the bonus code SPORTSLINE.
Orlando Magic at Boston Celtics (-10.5, 197.5): 7:00 p.m. ET
The Magic will try to even the series in Boston after dropping the first game, 103-86. Orlando has the top scoring defense in the NBA and while holding the Celtics to 103 points is encouraging, the Magic need to find a way to get the offense going after shooting just 42% and committing 15 turnovers in Game 1.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum is doubtful for Game 2 after falling on his wrist and suffering a bone bruise. That could lead to another low-scoring game between the two teams. Eight of the last 10 meetings have gone under the total, including the first game of the series by 16 points.
Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets (-3.5, 203.5): 9:30 p.m. ET
Golden State scored a big 95-85 road win over the Rockets to take early control of the series. The Warriors were fueled by Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, who combined for 56 points and 13 rebounds. Golden State's defense also limited Houston to 39% shooting in its 10-point win.
The Rockets will look to even things up at home but will need a better effort from star Jalen Green, who was held to just seven points—14 below his season average. Green has now scored seven points or fewer in four straight games. Golden State has dominated this series of late, going 8-2 both straight up and against the spread in the last 10 games.
Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings (-135, 5.5): 10:00 p.m. ET
What can Edmonton and Los Angeles do for an encore after the Kings' thrilling Game 1 win? The Oilers stormed back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game 5-5 late in the third period. The game seemed destined for overtime until the Kings' Phillip Danault put in the game winner past Edmonton's Stuart Skinner with just 42 seconds left. The goal gave Los Angeles a 1-0 series lead and its third straight victory over Edmonton.
Los Angeles Dodgers (-120, 8.5) at Chicago Cubs: 7:00 p.m. ET
The Cubs and Dodgers will face off for the seventh time this season on Wednesday. Left-hander Matthew Boyd is expected to get the start for Chicago. Boyd is 1-2 but has pitched pretty well overall, allowing only five runs in 22.1 innings of work.
The Dodgers won the first three meetings, but after last night's 11-10 thriller, the Cubs tied the season series 3-3. Los Angeles still hasn't named a starting pitcher as of Wednesday morning, so a second straight high-scoring game could be in store Wednesday at Wrigley Field.
