The 2025 Formula 1 season is only three races old and we've already had three different winners. McLaren won with Lando Norris in Australia and then Oscar Piastri in China before four-time defending world champion Max Verstappen got Red Bull on the board last week in Japan. That trio of title contenders and the rest of the F1 field will set its sights on the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix Sunday at the Bahrain International Circuit. Piastri claimed pole position in qualifying and is now the -275 favorite in this week's F1 odds and he's followed by Norris (+550), George Russell (+1000) and Charles Leclerc (+1000).

Developed by daily Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary Formula 1 prediction model takes into account a slew of factors, including track history and recent results.

The model has been scorching hot when it comes to picking Formula 1 race events dating back to 2021. It nailed both of Charles Leclerc's wins in 2022, and at the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix, the model was strongly backing Verstappen as its top pick. The result: Verstappen dominated the field and ran away with a surprising victory. 

It followed that up by calling Verstappen's win at the Rolex Emilia Romagna GP in April and nailed Verstappen to win in Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, the United States, Mexico and Abu Dhabi. It also called all 19 of Verstappen's wins during the 2023 season and nailed each of his first seven wins in 2024. 

It also predicted Lando Norris's 2024 wins in the Netherlands (+200), Singapore (+190) and Abu Dhabi (+250) as well as his win to start the season at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix (+185). Anyone who followed the model's lead on those plays has seen HUGE returns!

The Bahrain International Circuit opened in 2004 and it's hosted the Bahrain Grand Prix ever since, with the exception of 2011 because of civil unrest. The 15-turn track measures 3.363 miles is perhaps best known for its winding second sector. Lewis Hamilton won this race a record five times with Mercedes and Ferrari has won more Bahrain Grand Prix (seven) than any constructor. Those two forces united this offseason, but Hamilton sits a disappointing eighth in the F1 standings.

Now, the model has dialed in on the 2025 Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix and just released its coveted picks and leaderboard projections. 

We can tell you the model is predicting a points finish (top 10) for Williams' Carlos Sainz Jr. that would pay out +175 at BetMGM. Sainz spent the last four years of his career with Ferrari but found himself without a ride when Hamilton made the jump to the Scuderia from Mercedes. 

However, he eventually landed with Williams and has one points finish so far this season. That came in China after three teams (including both Ferraris) were disqualified for failing a post-race inspection. Sainz has recorded five consecutive points finishes in Bahrain, including podium finishes there in 2022 and 2024.
